NewsPhil Spector trial: Day 21Los Angeles County sheriff's criminalist Steve Renteria testified today (June 12) that Lana Clarkson's DNA -- not Phil Spector's -- was found on the gun that fired into her mouth and killed her. This testimony may help the defence make a case that Spector did not force the gun into Clarkson's mouth and kill her, as prosecutors allege, but that the actress pulled the trigger herself. Renteria also said that the producer's DNA was not recovered from underneath Clarkson's fingernails, which could signify that she did not struggle with Spector before she was shot. During Renteria's cross-examination, he also disclosed that a small amount of Spector's DNA was found on Clarkson's left breast. It is unclear at this time the significance of this finding, but it may play a role in future arguments and the outcome of the case. Spector is accused of murdering Clarkson on February 3, 2003 at his Los Angeles mansion. The defence contends her death was suicide. U2 Tower gets approval One of the world's most famous architects has been chosen to oversee the construction of The U2 Tower, reports ITN. Norman Foster, the brains behind the Gherkin in London and the Millau Viaduct in France, was selected by Dublin's Docklands Development Authority. He will now head-up the operation for the city's first ever skyscraper, which will reach a height of 120m and cost around 200 millions euros. Commissioned by Geranger Ltd, a consortium including the members of the Irish rock group, the tower will apparently feature an egg-shaped recording studio at its peak. Work on the landmark is expected to commence next year with a completion date scheduled for 2011. |
